Creation A Day Challenge: Day 9 + OMG I'm Getting a Headache

Yes, so the Creation A Day Challenge is moving right along! I JUST (like mere minutes ago) finished making this quick little rosette chainmaille bracelet. It's all stainless steel, so you can wear it whenever, wherever you wish. It LAUGHS at water, it really does. I love stainless steel. It's awesome and amazing, IMHO.

I am also nursing a headache, despite my coffee guzzling this afternoon.

I suppose it's a stress/OMGI'malreadyrunningbehindforthisthing headache. I've been readying for the Radford Highlanders Festival for weeks now, and I still feel like I haven't even started preparing. I have less than a month now to get everything straight and priced...heck, MADE, even. I don't know why I'm under the impression I need to make even more stuff to take with me. I'm pretty sure I have enough. @_@

My bff Biscuit is accompanying me this year, so it's sure to be a fun time. She's also going to be selling some of her polymer clay creations, so I hope we both do well so we.'re not all cranky-pants for the entirety of the day. That'd be quite sad.

More creations on the way, plus (hopefully, if the nice weather holds out this weekend) new pics of existing creations to help spruce up my Etsy shop. Woooo!

Creation A Day Challenge: Days 7 & 8

I'm so bad about keeping up with things, and this is proving to be no different! So here's another combined post for my Creation A Day Challenge.

Day 7 brought about this cute cupcake ring. It's in a gunmetal ring and topped with a glass cabochon. It's nice and sturdy and adjusts to fit probably a size 9 or so finger. I actually made three of these, but was so lazy I only snapped a pic of this one.

Day 8's creations were these three glittery resin skull necklaces. I cast them in a mold I'd bought for Halloween and I thought this would be a good, simple way to use them so I wouldn't have to throw them out. I attached small bails to the backs and strung them each on a colored ball chain. Wooooot. That's that for now. More creations coming soon!

Creation A Day Challenge: Days 4,5 & 6

Oopsie doo! Who was lazy (in regards to posting things on her bloggy) this weekend? Meeee! I did make things this weekend, but I failed to post them for anyone to see. My bad!So here is a combined post for the creations from days 4,5 & 6. First, I finished up some glazed retro horror and pinup pendants for day 4. They aren't perfect, since I opted to use glaze instead of resin because I'm impatient and didn't want to wait overnight for it to completely dry. The 50ft woman has a few bubbles and they are a tad cloudy, but they are still wicked cool.
Then, the Exodar plugs for day 5, which are a mix of turquoise, royal blue, violet and purple glitters. I was trying to represent the Draenei (yes, they're my favorite in-game race, followed by Blood Elves) pretty well, and I think I did. They are 1" (25mm) double flare.
Lastly, I made a cute red and black handlebar mustache pendant for day 6. It's got a nice weight to it because the image is protected by glass. Everyone loves a nice mustache! All my creations are or will be for sale in my Etsy shop.

Creation A Day Challenge: Day 3

Yeah, I know. There are four creations, not just one. But they were quick and cute, so I made them all for day 3. Zombie Pinup rings, and they're HUGE. They are the large 40x30mm size and come with adjustable bands so they will fit up to about a size 8 finger. Still readying for the Highlanders Festival. I'm about to drive my bf nuts, I think. I've been crating/photographing/pricing/storing all this new stuff day and night and he's pretty much sick of it. Oops. I think I need to leave the house more...

Creation A Day Challenge: Day 2

Oops! I was supposed to post this yesterday, so now I'm a day behind. But I did complete my 2nd project! Yaaay! This one is a chainmaille bracelet in bright and bronze anodized aluminum. It's super lightweight and reminds me of metal lace. Japanese weaves all remind me of that and I love them so. I'm waiting on the post lady to bring me some supplies I ordered so I can keep on making shiny things. I have finish the creation of Day 3 already, and will post it tomorrow. The process of preparing for the Radford Highlanders Festival in October is consuming me this year. Not sure why, as you could call me a "veteran" of this particular festival. This will be my 6th year (I think...) but I am so worried I'll forget something important or my card reader won't work or the weather will be awful. No wonder my head always hurts! But that's all for today. Creation #3 coming tomorrow!

Creation A Day Challenge: Day 1

What a crazy bunch of mess! I haven't posted in almost a year. @_@ Has this year REALLY been that boring?! Well...kinda', yeah. It HAS been. I have only recently begun to give a care about my creative side again, after having neglected it for the majority of 2012. So I haven't had a lot of crafty things to talk about. But the recent revival of my creative side has given me the urge to blog about it. Or something. I thought it would be cool to challenge myself to create one item a day for the rest of the year. Big or small, platic ring or chainmaille. Just SOMETHING, every day. I'm going to post pics daily, or try to anyway. So we'll start with what was technically yesterday's piece, a bright aluminum sweet pea chainmaille necklace. It's very cute, if I do say so myself.
I'm still working on today's piece, but should be done with it shortly. Just giving my fingers a leetle rest. Um...that's about it for today. Just sharing my Day 1 creation. Excited for the rest of the year and for my awesome festival in October. This will be my 6th or 7th year selling there, so I'm super psyched.

Body Mods and Kilts, Yo!

Yeah, I got my second tattoo started on July 12th, finished up over a month later and touch ups are coming up in a couple of weeks. It was most ambitious if I do say so myself. It's kind of a half sleeve but not. Some say it is, some not so much. It covers the whole front of my upper arm, capping my shoulder and stretching down to my elbow. It took about five hours to finish and yes, man. It hurt. Like woah. But my tattoo artist Christinia at Blue Lotus in Salem, VA is awesome and nice and made it bearable for me. I didn't faint or weep or anything...only on the inside, as I told her. ;p

I've also been stretching my ears for about a month and a half. I've gone from a 20g down to a 2g in that time, which was probably pretty stupid of me. It hurt a bit too, but I'm finished now. I don't want/need to go any bigger. I just wanted to be able to wear cool plugs and spirals so I'm perfectly content with them being at a 2g. Woooot.

AND! It's almost time for the one festival a year I attend now! The Radford Highlanders Festival is coming up on October 1st and I'm uber excited to be going...with any luck, that is. I'm running late with my booth fee, but I plan on remedying that this week. Time to break out the kilt and the monster boots and have a wicked fun time!

Just don't try to get me to eat a scone. I learned my lesson LAST year and will be staying the eff away from those from now on. Bleh.

On the mental health front, I feel as though I'm not doing so hot. My therapist dumped me a couple of months ago and I've been going downhill since. I guess I'd really become reliant upon therapy sessions, which wasn't good, but neither was being dumped like that. I'm still taking my meds and have more scripts for them. There was some confusion with the free clinic over my last appointment. I called to cancel it and was told to leave a message after I was transferred to the nurse's station. I did so, but was never given a call back to reschedule my appointment. They're very anal about no shows, but I didn't receive a letter scolding me for not showing up, either, so I have no clue what happened. I didn't just NOT show up, of course. I DID call and cancel the appointment more than 24 hours in advance like I was told to. So I dunno. *shrug*

I was looking through my sold items in my shop and was really saddened by how little I'd sold this year. I mean, it's downright depressing, really. I used to sell quite a bit but I didn't sell a single piece during the holiday season last year. Boo. Not sure what to do about the lack of sales I'm currently experiencing. I hope my day selling at the festival isn't a bust. That wouldn't really serve to help my state of mind at present. I'm going with the expectation of at least making SOME profit, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for the best.

Still a rabid Vampire Knight fan and am currently (anxiously) awaiting the release of Chapter 75 in a week or so. Cannot WAIT to see how the confrontation between Kaien and Kaname goes...or IF it goes at all. And MORE ZEKI! For cripes sake, I need some Zeki action soooo bad! I don't care if everyone else on the planet thinks it's impossible or ships Yume all the way. I remain a salivating Zeki freak until the end, my friends...whatever it may hold. So there. Neener. ;p

That's all I've got for the time being. I just realized how long it'd been since my last post and thought I'd remedy that. Thanks for reading the rambling.
